Honey Shines like Gold at Taste of Home…

It’s only April and already 2016 has been an exciting year for the National Honey Board (NHB).  We saw great success at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in Miami, FL, launched an exciting new partnership with Disney, and have seen the development of some sweet new honey recipes. While we have seen many new beginnings in these last few months, we are always excited to see our continuing partnerships thrive as well.

This year marks our third season as a sponsor of the Taste of Home (TOH) Cooking School, a program that tours around the country bringing simple recipes that make everyday cooks look like culinary experts. We love being a part of this program because it gives the NHB another great opportunity to engage the general public in areas that we wouldn’t normally be able to reach. Last week we joined Chef Jamie Dunn and the TOH team at a sold out show in Shawnee, OK and couldn’t be happier to see how well received honey was.

Our recipe selection this season is a grilled version of our Crispy Chicken Salad with Honey-Jalapeno Vinaigrette, a sweet and heat salad that is simple to whip up for any occasion. Honey is an ideal ingredient in the recipe for many reasons including its all-natural sweetness, ability to balance the other flavor profiles (the jalapeno in particular) and its key role as an emulsifier. With its unique flavors, this salad will be a hit at every summer barbecue. In fact, it is being received so well that it wins the fan favorite vote at the majority of Chef Dunn’s cooking school shows!
